Submission to the Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence

Domestic, family and sexual violence is an extremely personal issue for me and many Australians.

Having experienced domestic and sexual violence in the past, I felt compelled to write a submission to South Australia's Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence.

The right to life extends to the right to defend one’s life. In my submission, I offer a unique perspective on the important role self-defence can and should play in the context of any violence.

When an individual violates the non-aggression principle, self-defence by any means necessary should be the legal right of reply.

Self-defence of an individual’s right to life, and the life of our family and property, is not afforded to Australians in any state, with “equal force” laws creating a society where individuals are disadvantaged and forced to rely on the State to protect us.

I am hopeful that I will be invited to appear before the Commission to answer questions and explain why self-defence is the key to solving Australia's domestic, family and sexual violence problem.
